„There is an urgent need for unification for Bulgaria” - around this, the chairman of the “BSP– UNITED LEFT“ - Atanas Zafirov, the president of Bulgaria from 2002 to 2012 – Georgi Parvanov and the leader of the list of the coalition for 2 MIR – Burgas, engineer Petar Kanev. They, together with the candidates for people's representatives from the Burgas region, arrived in the largest and most lively settlement in the Rouen Balkans to support the local candidate from the Burgas list, Mehmed Mehmed, and to show that the unification – ethnic and social can also happen at 450 m above sea level.
With bread and salt, flowers, warm hugs and a sacrificial offering for health, hundreds of residents of Snjagovo welcomed the leaders of the socialists and had open and casual conversations with them about life in this part of the Burgas region. Their visit turned out to be long-awaited and symbolic for a united left, an indication to people that regardless of religion, ethnicity, status, they can be together in contrast to universal disunity.
„Bulgaria needs a real left-wing alternative. We are ready to give it to the people. The Bulgarian left has learned its lesson and in these elections appears united, united, motivated and with high goals and ambitions. It is important that the unification is already a fact", Atanas Zafirov was categorical, for whom the Burgas region is a personal cause and his native home.
„A strong society is needed, without divisions. Bulgarian politicians must overcome egocentrism, understand that protecting personal interests may be temporarily useful for them, but this is hardly the case for the state. Everything around us is smoking. It's time for politicians to turn their backs on self-centeredness and to have a normal parliament for at least a year," said engineer Petar Kanev, who is among the politicians who have contributed the most to foreign investments in Bulgaria in the last 10 years.
Years ago, the political path of Georgi Parvanov began precisely in Burgas, and the people of Snyagovo have not forgotten his visits and declared him an honorary resident of the village. “We have the attitude “BSP– UNITED LEFT“ to become a factor in politics again. The Burgas list is very well composed with a leader who has proven himself in politics and in public life. I think our candidates here will produce one of the best results for the entire country. I hope the revival of the left will start from here with a convincing result.”, he said.
The candidate for People's Representative from the Burgas list with number 28, Mehmed Mehmed, proudly shared about Snjagovo, where over 1,500 residents live, but, in his words, there is no perspective for the hundreds of families. “Let the signal for true unification go from this picturesque village on the ridge of Stara Planina. Every year we do a Qurban for health here several times and everyone is invited. We are tired of hatred and divisions – ethnic, social, political. We live together and we all want a good life," Mehmed said.
Before the meeting with the residents of Snyagovo, President Georgi Parvanov, together with the leader of the Burgas list of the “BSP– UNITED LEFT", Eng. Petar Kanev, lit a candle for the prosperity of the country in the temple of "St. Vmchk. George the Victorious" in Rouen, together with the socialists from the Burgas region and local residents.
