Vladimir Nikolov: It's not a problem that there is one candidacy for chief prosecutor - 1

The important thing is that the members of the SJC conduct a maximally open and transparent procedure.

This is what Vladimir Nikolov, chairman of the Association of Prosecutors in Bulgaria, told BNR, stressing that the organization monitors the procedure for electing a chief prosecutor and follows "all processes closely:

"I would like the debate to be professional, and not in the field of some gossips, intrigues and suggestions, as we have observed in the past years".

In his words, it is not a problem that there is one nomination for prosecutor number one, because it is legal:

"We have to look at what is legal. In various elections, there was again only one candidacy, but when it came to the court, no one raised the issue so sharply. It would be a ridiculous situation to have fictitious applications, hardly anyone would be interested in such a thing. The fact that we have one application is not a problem. The question is that a worthy candidate should be chosen to head the prosecution.

Vladimir Nikolov expressed the opinion that the cases with the "Eight Dwarfs" and "The Notary" are disgusting phenomena:

"We firmly believe that they have no place in the judicial system, but investigations must be conducted and the name of the institutions must be cleared. All people who are involved and have some addictions should not work in the judicial system and in the prosecutor's office at all. But let's do it in the appropriate order - when we have facts, let's comment on them, not comment on suggestions.

Corruption is in politics, in the executive power, Nikolov pointed out and commented:

"These circles are trying in every way to influence and prevent law enforcement agencies from doing their job. There are no innocents in this situation, but everyone must take their responsibility".

The chairman of the Association of Prosecutors in Bulgaria refused to comment on the case of Ceyhan Ibryamov and stressed that the decision on his detention is up to the court:

"Two instances of the court confirmed his detention. ... The case should not have any political color, but to be in the field of the law and the Constitution".
