Agricultural producers will receive the promised BGN 325 million under the second tranche of Ukrainian aid. This was announced in an interview with Darik Radio by the Acting Minister of Agriculture and Food, Georgi Tahov.
The interlocutor of the media emphasized that everything possible has been done so that 200 million BGN will go to the farmers this week.
„Yes, that's a fact! The amounts are already on the accounts of the beneficiaries. The second tranche of the Ukrainian aid will be paid. To date, BGN 200 million have been paid in both directions, and the remaining BGN 125 million will be paid by the end of November. And a guarantee that this will happen is precisely the decision of the Management Board of the State Fund “Agriculture” plus the notification we sent to the European Commission in Brussels, which is the entire amount of BGN 325 million. Farmers should not have to worry about the rest of the amount they are entitled to receive, commented Minister Takhov.
He noted that he has submitted a request to the Ministry of Finance (MOF) to secure money for Ukrainian aid for 2025 as well.
„You know that the so-called legal mechanism. And it is precisely on the basis of the European Commission's Regulation on Ukrainian aid that it be announced at the Brussels level that the negative consequences of Russia's war against Ukraine will continue for the next year, and precisely on the basis of this aid as liquidity they give permission to respective countries to budget it. Although to date we do not have this legal framework, I, as the Minister of Agriculture, have submitted a request to the Ministry of Finance to ensure the full amount of two tranches for the next year 2025,” explained Takhov.
He emphasized that the payment of the funds under the two tranches for this year was a difficult test for him and his team, because the money was not allocated in the state budget.
