The procedure for electing the chief prosecutor is a direct result of the failure of the authors of the reform in the judicial system – as they had conceived it, they had implemented it and the Constitutional Court returned it back. Vice President Iliana Yotova commented this to journalists. She took part in the award ceremony in the national contest "Mayor of the Year", broadcast by BTA.
According to her, good results can only be achieved by rethinking the people who work in the system. We all need people at the head of these institutions to be highly trusted by the Bulgarian citizens, Yotova added.
The procedure for the election of the chief prosecutor and the president of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC) must continue, because it is not right for heads of bodies to have expired mandates and to be managed by temporary acting officials. As soon as the Constitution allows, this procedure must be carried out, said Acting Minister of Justice Maria Pavlova today before the plenary session of the Supreme Judicial Council.
