No one knows what happened happened in the minds of these two boys, very good and proven professionals, in the last seconds of their lives. I was there immediately after the crash. The picture was eerie, the plane could be seen disintegrating, sliding towards a wheel. At the end of this huge trail of scattered pieces were the bodies of the two pilots. This was stated to BTV by the head of the Military Appellate Prosecutor's Office, Colonel Elin Alexov.
In his words, it is still too early to say the reasons for the plane crash on September 13, when during a training flight at the Third Air Base “Graf Ignatievo“ two pilots died – lieutenant colonel Petko Dimitrov and captain Vencislav Dunkin.
According to Colonel Alexov, the conclusion of an unreasonably high risk on the part of the pilots is that of the administrative investigation specialists. Whether it will be proven remains to be seen.
„A very complex examination is ahead, to which the data from the black box, the interviews of the witnesses, the video recordings will be provided. The investigation will continue for a long time in order to objectively understand the cause of the accident. If there is human action or inaction, whose is it and is there a possibility of criminal liability. Within seven seconds, this exercise was carried out and the unfortunate end of the two pilots”, indicated the head of the Military Appellate Prosecutor's Office.
In his words, everything happened so quickly and dynamically, and many details have to be restored.
„Everything must be investigated, every possible expertise, including psychiatric and psychological on the condition of the pilots before the flight, on their lives, if necessary. Everything that could technically be done has been done and will be gathered together with the pre-trial proceedings. An analysis of the communication will be made, including the side noises, if possible, in order to understand as objectively as possible what happened, explained Colonel Elin Alexov.
