The most accidents in recent days have occurred in Sofia and Varna, commissioner Maria Boteva, deputy head of the “Traffic Police" department to the Main Directorate "National Police", broadcast by BTA. Until October 20, there were over 5,000 serious accidents in the country. 362 people died and nearly 7,000 people were injured.

Compared to the same period last year, there were more accidents and injuries, and fewer deaths. The most common cause of accidents is drivers' violations.

From October 14 to 20, on-the-spot fines with receipts were 29,400, and electronic receipts were more than 30,000. Driving licenses confiscated by the police were 684, and those found to be driving under the influence of alcohol - 223.

On July 6, on the Ring Road, with a speed limit of 90 km/h, a car was detected traveling at 225 km/h. There was a similar case in May, as well as in December last year.

Most often speeding is done on the Sofia Ring Road and near Lovech, explained the Ministry of the Interior.

In more than 4,000 checks, 905 people were found to have driven their cars while distracted. Most are those who use mobile phones, according to data from the Ministry of the Interior.

36 drivers of scooters and scooters were stopped for using a phone.

More than 4,000 infringements have been found in relation to seat belts. 2,500 of them were drivers, and 845 were front-seat passengers and 530 people who rode in the back seats without seat belts.

In view of the shorter day, from "Traffic Police" advise pedestrians to wear as light clothing as possible and to use sidewalks or places to move as far as possible from the roadway with cars.

The Ministry of the Interior urges drivers to be vigilant around places where there are many people, including exits of halls and commercial establishments.

Most accidents involving injured pedestrians occur when their right of way is taken away. It is about 20 crashes in one week.

In just one week there were 28 accidents with motorcycles and mopeds. No one died, and 22 people were injured.
