The Prime Minister of Bulgaria: These are the most guarded elections so far. PACE gave a good assessment - 1

„I will tell you the assessment of international observers, in which hardly anyone doubts that they are biased. It is about the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, who say that the elections are competitive and managed professionally by the electoral administration. They give a good assessment of the organization of the elections.

Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said this to journalists on his way out of the presidency. He hopes a regular government will be established.

He recalled that the Ministry of the Interior and the State Security Service presented reports addressed to the President, the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers, in which they gave a full account of what was done in the elections. This report will also be presented at a briefing in the Ministry of the Interior. Based on this report, the three institutions will have the opportunity to make their decisions.

The Prime Minister is adamant that the reports do not say which parties are buying votes: “These are the most guarded elections so far. There are the most pre-trial proceedings, the most responses to alerts, the most warning protocols issued. About the machines: in the last election, the porveren machines were 3300. This is 33 times more than the previous government. Nearly 600 million more Bulgarian citizens voted, which is absolutely commendable.“

„Yes, I watch the ballot counting records very carefully. However, do you know what the composition of the SIK is? It is from all parties, there are no representatives of the executive power. If there is something wrong, and in fact a pre-trial proceeding has been initiated based on the footage. Of course it bothers me, but will it continue to bother me – it depends on the authorities that are competent – the prosecution and the court. There is no representative of the executive power in the CEC, and even the CEC is not that competent, because only representatives of the political parties have to say that there are irregularities, so that even the CEC can be referred, he added.

Glavchev clarified that he is not in the habit of commenting on President Rumen Radev's statements: “We have offered him a report. He is one of the people who can appeal to the Constitutional Court if he sees irregularities. If I appeal to the Supreme Court, I will be accused of a conflict of interest because I want to remain in my post as a caretaker minister for a long time. I am familiar with the Constitution and 48 people's representatives can also appeal to the Constitutional Court.“
