Problems with the central water supply system and the water transmission network plague the residents of the city of Melnik. For years, people there have been waiting for funding to begin renovations. However, there is still no result, reports BNT.
"This thing happens very often. Especially Saturdays and Sundays. Two days of overnight stay come, there is an accident and people cannot stay. We are in the 21st century - not having water to wash yourself. This is sin! And at the same time, in Melnik, the water pipe, which we personally built more than 60 years ago. The boys come, make repairs, turn on the water and immediately it thunders in another place", says Petar Dimitrov - one of the owners of hotels in the city.
Another resident of Melnik says that accidents happen every other week. There is always an accident here, he adds. Melnik's water supply network is very outdated, explained the city's mayor, Sasho Filipov.
"If measures are not taken, things will get worse", he is categorical.
He explained that the municipality has a ready project and is waiting for "serious financing".
"What depends on us is ready. I hope that the rulers will listen to us so that measures can be taken. This is a general problem for the whole of Bulgaria. All cities are hole to hole", said the mayor of Melnik.
