The Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov and the Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov will honor the memory of Prince Alexander I Battenberg – commander-in-chief of the Bulgarian army during the victorious Serbo-Bulgarian war in 1885, which successfully defended the Union of Eastern Rumelia and the Principality of Bulgaria, the press center of the Ministry of Defense announced.
On November 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., Minister Zapryanov and Admiral Eftimov will participate in a military ritual of laying wreaths and flowers on the Mausoleum – Tomb of Prince Alexander I Battenberg in Sofia.
The military ceremony is organized by the Ministry of Defense on the occasion of the 139th anniversary of the battles of Slivnica during the Serbo-Bulgarian War (November 5 - 7, 1885) and the 131st anniversary of the death of the first Bulgarian prince (17 November 1893). An honor guard from the National Guard unit and the Guard's representative brass band will take part in the ritual.
