The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office requested the removal of the immunity of the deputy in the 51st National Assembly Ceyhan Ibryamov.
The proposal is for two crimes, the prosecution specifies:
-For the fact that in the month of October 2019 in the city Sofia has asked for and accepted a gift that is not suitable for him – a monetary sum of BGN 20,000 (twenty thousand) in order to influence the decision-making of an official from the Ministry of Health in connection with his office regarding the issuance of a permit for placing a group of biocides on the market - a crime under Art. 304b, para. 1, ex. 1 of NK
-For the fact that in the months of September and October 2024 in the city Sofia, in order to procure for himself a real estate benefit (a sum of money in the amount of 400,000 BGN), aroused and maintained at St. Todorov delusion that if he was given the sum of BGN 400,000 he would influence the decision-making by officials from the Ministry of Defense in connection with their public procurement service and thereby attempted to cause him substantial property damage as the attempt remained unfinished for reasons beyond Ibryamov's control – crime under Art. 210, para. 1, item 5, top Art. 209, para. 1, top Art. 18, para. 2, top para. 1 of the NC.
Criminal proceedings will be resumed and the investigation will continue if the National Assembly authorizes prosecution.
We remind you that Jeyhan Ibryamov was arrested during the election campaign - on October 3. At that time, he was an acting deputy of the 50th National Assembly, but also with immunity as a candidate for deputy. After his arrest, at the request of the prosecutor's office, the CEC removed his immunity as a candidate, and later this also happened by the Speaker of the National Assembly Raya Nazaryan, alone, since the parliament was not working because of the campaign.
At a briefing in the Courthouse, where issues related to investigations by the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office were discussed, Kirilova explicitly emphasized that the prosecutor's office did not take action against Ibryamov because of intra-party conflicts in the DPS. She assured that the steps in the investigation will be taken according to "facts and evidence".
Regarding the accusations of vote buying, Prosecutor Kirilova explained that an extensive investigation will be needed, in which "additional testimony and circumstantial evidence" will be sought to clarify the specific meaning of the allegations of lack of funds and "empty till".
