We may be in the situation of the long Monday for another week or two. Perhaps the parties stop the clock to negotiate and stop the president from handing out the mandates, predicts political scientist Lyubomir Stefanov in an interview for "Above all" of the BNR.
"The parties may come to an agreement and formalize it with a coalition agreement. I'm still pessimistic because a lot of water has leaked out, but people are the same," said the political scientist.
According to him, there is a possibility of forming a majority, "but the question is how to arrange the balance":
"The word is not compromise, but consensus. There are pro forma institutions, but due to lack of political support, the state is slipping, GERB and PP-DB must compromise, but change the game. Now they are playing poker, and they have to switch to clean bridge, make their announcements. When you go all or nothing, this is what happens. People say to themselves, "why are we going to elections for the seventh time after we step on the same stick and it hits us in the head."
Lyubomir Stefanov believes that "politicians need air so that they don't make a decision under the pressure of the street and the agitations." Accelerated dynamics are putting a lot of pressure on us".
If "Majesty" enters the National Assembly, it will make the parliament even more fragmented and it will become even more difficult to form a majority and a government, the political scientist claims.
And adds:
"We are doing research with colleagues on whether organizations called parties behave as such. If everything depends on the mood of a leader, it means that it is a cover of an authoritarian structure. I don't see common sense being shown in the parties, but it is good that Borisov is sitting down at the table to negotiate for the first time. Finally, these people need to come out of their skins and act like political figures representing human beings.
Lyubomir Stefanov explained that GERB and PP-DB are infinitely necessary and predicted:
"Common sense will prevail. New players have the disadvantage of not being players. Bulgaria needs a stable government, and this can only be done by stable, systematic parties that know what responsibility is. "Revival", MECH and the other little ones continue the pre-election propaganda and this shows that they do not understand the situation. It shows a weak political culture and a lack of a statesmanlike approach."
