I want to refute one often imposed thesis that the election of the speaker of the National Assembly implies the formation of a governing majority. Parliament has three main functions – to initiate legislative activity, to radiate executive power and to control it. We consider that at the moment the election of the President of the National Assembly is a prerequisite for it to start creating legislation. This was stated in the studio of “Hello, Bulgaria” the MP from “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria” Andrey Tsekov.
He was the coalition's proposal for Speaker of the National Assembly before he decided to support that of the oldest representative – Silvi Kirilov from “There is such a people”. “We support the candidate whose party supported our views on the isolation of “DPS-New Beginning” from participation in the institutional construction of the state”, Tsekov explained the move of PP-DB. However, they did not set any conditions for Kirilov not to accept the post of caretaker prime minister.
