GERB-SDS do not support the idea of electing a technical speaker of the parliament. Such a proposal came from the PP-DB, which stated that they would support ITN's proposal that the oldest member of parliament lead the parliament. This comments in “The day begins“ on BNT Prof. Dr. Kostadin Angelov from GERB-SDS. According to him, the country is heading for new elections after PP-DB did not accept the hand extended by GERB.
„We must stop with these modifications of the Constitution, I advise Kiril Petkov to finally read it. I know it's not his favorite and he doesn't really like to follow it, but we're an institutional democracy. This democracy says what the president should be. No technical. It's like putting one of the operators as a technical host instead of you. Here we are not talking about a change of roles, here we are not playing a children's game with trucks in the sandbox in front of the block, commented Prof. Dr. Kostadin Angelov from GERB-SDS.
According to him, the pre-election campaign in this parliament is not over yet.
„The state is in disintegration, the institutions are not working for the third year already. We have several major crises – with the tax, the refugees, with the water. These are extremely big problems. We have to stop thinking in a narrow-party way and think in a state-wise way and think about how these problems can be solved. They can only be solved with a regular government”, explained Prof. Dr. Kostadin Angelov.
He commented that they want the government to be built on Euro-Atlantic values, therefore PP-DB are a logical partner.
„The government we want to make, the management formula we want to make, we want it to be built around Euro-Atlantic values. Therefore PP-DB are a normal and natural partner in this National Assembly. But we cannot force something to happen. All PP-DB wanted was to sign their declaration. Boyko Borisov signed this declaration... What else should we do? They were supposed to start negotiations on the legislative program, they refused those negotiations. We will no longer turn our backs on our party and make compromises, Prof. Kostadinov also said.
„After they refused this extended hand of ours for this expert conversation, it is a clear sign that they are looking for reasons to part with us and to go to new elections and elect a chairman of the National Assembly, who will become an official cabinet and hold the elections with their government. "It's so prosaic," Prof. Angelov commented.
