Taxi drivers from all over the country will go out in protest today, declaring themselves against the increase in the price of compulsory insurance “Civil liability“.

From 08:00 a.m. taxis will start gathering in front of the Vasil Levski National Stadium, and from 09:00 a.m. the convoy will set off in the form of a motorcade on a route passing by all institutions related to the problem of the increase of civil responsibility, the organizers point out.

The National Taxi Union announced on their Facebook page that they are organizing the event together with the Branch Organization of Taxi Drivers and Drivers in Bulgaria and the Branch Chamber of Taxi Drivers and Carriers.

The organizers indicate that at the same time as the motorcade in Sofia, processions with taxi cars will leave in Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Ruse, Pleven, Yambol, Pazardzhik, Sliven, Shumen, Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Tutrakan . Plovdiv and Pernik are to be included later.

We have a clear position on the issue of what we want from the institutions in relation to solving our problem with the insurance companies, the organizers say.

There will be two protest events in Sofia. From Union “Taxi“ announced that from 11:00 a.m. in Sofia, taxi cars will gather in several points of the city, and in the form of a three-beam procession, they will head to the “Knyaz Alexander I“ square, where a protest will be held until 1:00 p.m. rally.

The two protests have different views on the issue of increasing the cost of civil liability for taxis.

From Union “Taxi“ indicated: “If an increase is required, we will not accept more than 50%”.

„We do not accept the fixation of Union “Taxi“ for an “increase to 50%”, because we think it is not in the interest of taxi drivers and it shows dubious motivation”, is the position of the National Taxi Union.

The necessary premium to cover the risk of the compulsory insurance for taxi cars is normally several times higher than that for other passenger cars, the Association of Bulgarian Insurers announced on the occasion of the current situation with the price dynamics of the "Civil Liability" insurance ;.

The Financial Supervision Commission established an investigation, within the framework of which it requested data from its supervised persons, on the basis of which the facts could be established in connection with the allegations of the increase in the price of the compulsory car insurance "Civil Liability" and, if necessary, to take supervisory measures.
