„This one parliament is much more fragmented than the previous one and has the stigma of being falsely elected, with some bought elections, scratched, falsified, with four complaints to the Constitutional Court from a number of political parties, public organizations. So the starting point for any analysis of the 51st Parliament and what it will produce will be that there are people in there who are criminally elected, and that means they will act anyway in terms of the exercise of the power“.
This was stated by the political scientist and independent deputy in the 50th parliament Kaloyan Metodiev in the show “Primetime“ on Euronews.
He recalled that he was the first to sign one of the appeals to the Constitutional Court for the complete annulment of the elections. “586 sections without video surveillance, and we have all seen how committees delineate some parties, transfer votes to others. There are a number of anomalies - if you look, for example, at one Garmen, yesterday I read on the Internet: We have a new phenomenon – Kiril Dobrev managed to achieve a result with 738% growth in one of the villages, in the village of Parvomai he achieved 900% growth. This is something that needs to be studied by political science, because in 4 months a party he claimed was broken suddenly managed to convince leftist, poor voters in his capacity as a big businessman that he was the man who could to solve their problems. In Asenovgrad – the same job, in Belitsa – the scribbling of the protocols”, Kaloyan Metodiev gave examples.
In his words, there are a series of parties that claim that these elections were not manipulated – these are GERB, Peevski's DPS-New Beginning and Kiril Dobrev's BSP. The political scientist replied to the host's reply that the BSP had asked for cashing:
„With a separate subscription, for partial checkout – part of trying to get out of the situation. But, these 3 parties with these 3 leaders (Borisov, Peevski, Dobrev) are the formations that refuse to talk about the mass manipulations, the mass theft of votes, the mass falsification – everything that otherwise the whole of Bulgaria saw”.
„ How is this money returned, poured into bought votes, bought commissions – this money will be returned by every single Bulgarian citizen. Through potholes on the roads, through fake medicines, through the theft of businesses from the judicial system”, Kaloyan Metodiev emphasized in his comment.
In his words, the situation, largely deadlocked, is in the hands of “Revival” and which of the two emerging groups he would support. “In my opinion, the battle here is not for the speaker of the parliament, the battle is for the next acting prime minister to hold elections again. In recent years, the caretaker governments have disastrously held elections in a corrupt way, with the intervention and use of state institutions, mainly the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other regulators as clubs, the political scientist pointed out. And he added in his analysis:
„The fight for the official cabinet is a fight about who will make the elections and do them unfairly. Who should hold the baton - whether it is Radev and his cohort or whether it is Peevski and Borisov. That's the choice right now. Both groups are problematic for the way democracy functions. They are regrouping because Radev, depending on the situation, works now with one, then with the other. You know that he first worked against Borisov with the protests, then he created the PP, then with Borisov and Peevski he overthrew the government of Kiril Petkov - there is an OSCE report on these activities of his office. Now it's back with PP – they are no longer charlatans, this year they are ok, with ITN and with Mr. Dogan, as he calls him, against Peevski. You see what kind of unprincipled agreements we are talking about,”, comments Kaloyan Metodiev.
In his words, the president says one thing and does another: “He says that the elections are manipulated, fake, Iliana Yotova, that this parliament is illegitimate. And at the same time, he convened the parliament as quickly as possible, with this situation in the country, with so many constitutional complaints, he did not give us any time to collect more signatures in the parliament. Second, he came and legitimized that assembly he was speaking against. He could at least say something from the stand. Third – why not appeal to the Supreme Court? You can't just talk, incite some against other separate groups and then go and negotiate with those you instigated," Kaloyan Metodiev pointed out.
When asked about where Cornelia Ninova would position herself in the eventual formation of a new political party, Kaloyan Metodiev answered: “She has an image that she cannot get out of– it is an uncompromising fighter against the status quo, the backroom, the parallel state. That's why the system crushed her. You see that they created an internal opposition to her, paid her, threw her out. Cornelia Ninova has always held pro-European positions, it cannot be denied – has a conservative profile in politics, with strong left-wing social elements. In terms of family values, she has always been in bright positions. And what is her strength as expertise is the economy”, the political scientist pointed out.
