Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev called on the deputies to start working in order to adopt the budget.
"I will tell the politicians in the National Assembly to work hard to implement the budget that must be adopted by them. The budget comes in after the political situation is clarified. We are ready with the budget," said the Acting Prime Minister.
"The Ministry of Finance has presented to the political forces the measures that are foreseen in the budget to maintain the 3% deficit, which is our benchmark, so that we can apply and enter the Eurozone. This goal remains unchanged. In view of the current circumstances - first, there is nowhere to submit the budget, then, if there will be a regular government, it is best to submit the budget for next year. If there is not, it will be a pre-election situation and it will be extremely risky to bring in a budget. We are ready for any options and we are waiting for the development of the situation", Glavchev also pointed out.
He commented that it is strange that the election of the Speaker of the Parliament should be compared to the election of a potential caretaker prime minister.
"I simply do not want to comment on what is happening in the parliament. Any institution has to work and try to compensate for the lack or non-working of another authority, so that's what we're trying to do and we'll do it as long as we have to. I call on the politicians in the National Assembly to find the right tone, to start conversations, but not in the kind we are all witnessing, conversations that would first lead to the election of the President of the National Assembly. Who would have thought that he could end up in such a situation. The idea was to have continuity of the work of the National Assembly, but it cannot start. I do not want to comment on the changes in the Constitution, but it is strange that the figure number 1 of the Bulgarian Constitution - the President of the National Assembly - is treated as a potential acting Prime Minister, which is at a much lower level in the power pyramid of the republic. I urge them to find a common language, it is best to form a regular government with political support. There were about 999 questions to our government with a functioning National Assembly. We were in the previous NS for 87-90 hours. If I were the chairman of the National Assembly, I would never become an official prime minister, as this is a descent into the power pyramid of the state", noted Dimitar Glavchev.
The Prime Minister emphasized that there is no risk of loss of funds for Bulgaria under the PVA.
"The situation is the same. Several laws have to be passed, so they said in the last week that there are decisions that need to be modified. There is no danger of losing the money, the EC is patient enough."
Glavchev attended the commemoration of the 133rd anniversary of the establishment of the Military Medical Academy in Sofia and wished the medics good health to continue taking such good care of their patients.
"We would all wish them to still be at a very high professional level, this is one of the best hospitals. They are a benchmark for professionalism, let's wish them health as well."
