We express our categorical disagreement with the announced proposals for the draft state budget for 2025. The measure “freezing maternity benefits for the second year at BGN 780” is complete absurdity. In the conditions of a demographic catastrophe, the benefit for the second year of maternity should be increased, not decreased. From VMRO – The Bulgarian National Movement suggests that its amount be tied to the minimum wage and be at least two minimum wages. Raising a child is an expensive undertaking in Bulgaria, and the state must take this into account. At these prices for food, clothing, goods for children, the sum of BGN 780. is a mockery. And what will the mother live on?
We also do not accept the proposal to raise the “maximum insurance income” for 2025 from BGN 3740 at BGN 4130 – this is how workers are punished because the state has no money for pensions. Such a measure seizes income from people to fill holes in the insurance funds, i.e. if you work more and get paid more, then you are guilty and will pay more! There is no logic. In addition, the continuous increase in the maximum insurance income can increase the gray sector. From VMRO - BND, we believe that without a serious reform of the social and insurance system, such measures are pointless. Hundreds of millions are leaking into welfare, hundreds of millions are leaking into bogus disability pensions. Those who deserve support are miserable, and tens of thousands of tricksters parasitize over the state budget and the social security system. Welfare theft and fake TELCs should be stopped, not insurance lifted.
A 10% cut in the maintenance of the administration is too timid a step. On the contrary, if cuts are to be made from somewhere, the bloated expenses of ministries, agencies, commissions, all kinds of departments, which in recent years, instead of reducing them, have inflated their staff and expenses should be cut by at least 30%. The proposal of the cabinet "Glavchev" for 10% it is trivial.
There is no report on the implementation of the capital program, nor a report on those over 1 billion BGN that were voted for in 2024. for municipalities. What's going on there? For months we have been hearing all kinds of thoughts, ideas and speculations about the draft budget. Finally, what they came up with is to hit the parents of young children and to get rid of the working people.
