The "Iskam bebe" Foundation is alarmed about the reduction of money for IVF procedures. It is about 2 million leva, which will be transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture through Decree No. 407 of the Council of Ministers.
This decision: endangers the hopes of hundreds of families dreaming of a child; limits access to IVF procedures; questions the state's commitment to dealing with the demographic crisis – one of the biggest challenges for Bulgaria, the organization adds.
According to their calculations, the reduction in funds will lead to at least 333 less funded procedures. The price of one procedure with donor material remains between 8,000 and 10,000 leva, an amount beyond the means of most couples.
"Increasing financial pressure on families who are fighting for their future. At a time when the demographic crisis is the biggest challenge facing Bulgaria, financing assisted reproduction is not an expense - it is an investment in the future of our country,"Ikskam bebe" is categorical.
According to the decree of the Council of Ministers, the money for in vitro procedures will serve to provide support to farmers.
