The former head of the General Directorate of Border Guards and National Security Service Gen. Rumen Milanov stated in the program "Denyat ON AIR" that in the last 15 years all governments have contributed to our admission to Schengen. Romania and Hungary have also made efforts in our interest, he pointed out.
"It is an achievement, but it is associated with a higher responsibility. The big problem is what we will do next. The closest distance Sofia - Vienna is through Belgrade. But the huge queues due to customs controls will redirect the transport flows Bulgaria - Romania - Hungary. Private trips will also come here. Everything will be redirected to Vidin. What are we doing about the infrastructure? The state is delaying payments for construction work," he commented.
"The Romanians are building a Constanta - Bucharest - Budapest corridor. This will have an impact on the transport and infrastructure problem. This is where the question of a third bridge over the Danube may come in. The transport strategy immediately changes the entire road transport picture," Gen. Milanov emphasized to Bulgaria ON AIR.
He is of the opinion that the checks that remain at the borders in the next 6 months will cause difficulties.
"Salaries will increase, but will you increase your productivity? 50% is a pretty big increase. The main reform in the services is to do their job more actively and minimize political influence, because it exists. Time must be spent on preparation. You can't see some violations and turn a blind eye. Our laws are not that bad, they must be implemented," said Gen. Milanov.
"Most likely yes. Quite mysterious situations arise. Almost all governments talk about anti-corruption, but the genesis of corruption is in the ruling majority. They hand out the pie. Whoever hands out the pie wants to benefit from it. In our country, the civil society system does not work", the former head of the General Directorate of Corruption Prevention and Control and the National Security Service also pointed out.
It's not just the prosecutor's office. There are many things in the court as well, concluded Gen. Milanov.
