Employers: The protest for electricity on January 15 is canceled, the code is changed from "red" to "yellow" - 1

Employers are postponing the protest planned for January 15 against high electricity prices for businesses, this was announced at a press conference by the employers' organizations.

"The code from "red" is changing to "yellow". Why isn't it in "green"?! Because first of all, the program is not yet a fact, although we have assurances that this will happen and we believe that it will happen, which is why we are postponing the protest. And secondly, because there is no permanent solution to the problem, so that such heart-stopping situations arise", pointed out the Chairman of the Management Board of the Association of Industrial Capital in Bulgaria (AIKB) Vasil Velev.

He added that during the talks with the Ministry of Energy and parliamentary groups, an agreement was reached to permanently regulate the problem in the Energy Law, so that it does not cease to operate after the end of the year and to guarantee the security of producers and non-household consumers.

"We held meetings with GERB-SDF, PP-DB, "DPS-New Beginning", "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms-DPS", "BSP-United Left and "There is such a people". These groups unite 193 members of parliament. That is why we believe that the Budget Committee will support the Law on Revenue Collection and Expenditure until the adoption of the 2025 budget in the second reading," Velev also said and called on manufacturers not to stop work due to high electricity prices and the lack of compensation.

Employers nevertheless warned that they remain on protest alert until there is a permanent solution to the problem.

The Chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial Association Dobri Mitrev stated that business representatives remain ready to defend the interests of all 600,000 non-household consumers - hospitals, schools, kindergartens, temples, municipalities, large, small and medium-sized enterprises, if the issues discussed do not find a permanent solution. “Indirectly, this unpredictability will affect all Bulgarian citizens”, said Mitrev.

He assured that inflation is currently decreasing. “We hope to fulfill the last criteria for entering the eurozone in the near future. We are grateful to everyone for the statesmanlike and nationally responsible behavior in this situation”, added Mitrev.
