"The 59-year-old man, who was injured in the collision between two freight trains yesterday and was brought by an ambulance team to the University Hospital "Tsarina Ioanna – ISUL", remains in a very serious condition, with a risk to his life", announced Prof. Dr. Maya Belitova, Head of the Clinic of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the hospital where the patient is admitted.
We recall that yesterday we reported to you about a head-on collision between two freight trains near Lokorsko, on the Svetovrachane - Kremikovtsi interstation, at the exit from the Kremikovtsi branch.
The signal was received at around 16:01 at the fire department. One train is a local train of "BDZ - Freight Transport" with two diesel locomotives - loaded with scrap, and the other - of a private company with two electric locomotives, transporting wagons with containers loaded with furniture.
One of the trains derailed. As a result of the collision, one of the diesel locomotives caught fire.
The total number of mechanics and drivers was 11. The Director of the State Railways of the Republic of Bulgaria Lyubomir Nikolov announced that two people died in the incident - the driver of one of the trains and an employee of BDZ. Six people were injured. Three fire engines and two rescue vehicles were sent to the scene.
