A guarantee for this government is the majority and the interests they have. If serious political mistakes are not made and with a constructive opposition, this government can even serve a full term, predicts the sociologist from the "Myara" agency Svetlin Tachev in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio.
"The horizon of the government depends on several things. First, whether the political forces in it will come together, since they have different political and foreign policy views, and whether they will find the intersection to create a stable government and govern longer than expected. The other thing that depends on is the extent to which their internal party interests overlap," Tachev pointed out. According to him, the current situation for Boyko Borisov and GERB is an extremely convenient government. "The government naturally satisfies GERB and Borisov the most because it achieved the PP declaration without PP-DB, their program without them. It attracted opponents such as the BSP, which was the main opposition to GERB for a decade. It attracted ITN, which had stated that they would dismantle the "Borisov" model and Dogan's APS, as everyone has an interest in this symbiosis," the sociologist explained to "Myara" in the program "Horizon for you".
And he added:
"ITN and BSP are playing a gamble, because in the event of an unsuccessful government, the end for them could be fatal. But, if the government consolidates and governs for a long time, they have the opportunity to tell their voters that what they have done is good for the country. Elections lead to the wasting of political forces and erosion. In this situation, a government like this would temporarily relieve public tension and would provide an opportunity for the stabilization of forces. And the support of the MRF is important due to the fact that they are waging a political struggle with the MRF-NN and new elections for them could have a destructive result."
Tachev commented that before the long-term program, the government has a lot to solve in the short term - filling the regulators, adopting a budget, entering the eurozone, judicial reform.
"If these are solved without serious upheavals in the coalition, this government may have a broader horizon. And when there are intra-party interests that correspond to the common, the government will hold on, and mostly because of the interests of the main political force. Because if Borisov ends this government, one of his opponents - the BSP or the ITN may end his political path", warned Svetlin Tachev.
