Currently, Bulgaria meets all, absolutely all, criteria for entering the eurozone and we should not miss this golden opportunity to request a convergence report from the EC. This was stated in the studio of "The Day Begins" on BNT by Venko Sabrutev - MP from PP-DB.
The report on entering the eurozone can be requested when the country meets the requirements, currently it does not, Toshko Yordanov, member of the Joint Management Council and chairman of the PG of the ITN, pointed out last week. He explained that if it turns out that Bulgaria does not meet the criteria for EU membership, two years will pass during which there will be no opportunity to request a new convergence report.
"Toshko Yordanov is actually one of the reasons why Bulgaria is here, and not in a much better place. You remember that in fact Divanche Bey, his boss and Toshko Yordanov were the reason for the overthrow of the only government that could have been without GERB and without MRF. Naturally, the pro-Russian parties must say that Bulgaria is not ready. The convergence report is the document that will say whether Bulgaria is ready. Bulgaria currently has two such reports, which clearly stated again during Borisov's time that Bulgaria is not ready. Back then, it was said - the problem is not just inflation, but corruption in Bulgaria - other key indicators. Currently, Bulgaria meets all, absolutely all criteria, and we should not miss this golden opportunity," Sabrutev pointed out.
When asked whether the PP-DB had held talks with the other opposition parties in the National Assembly about a vote of no confidence, Sabrutev said:
"We are waiting to see the actions of this government. We cannot ask for a vote of no confidence before we see clear, categorical signals that they have given up on the eurozone."
Sabrutev called the possibility of talking about supporting the vote of no confidence with "DPS - New Beginning" "absurd" and did not answer the question of whether they would seek support from MECH.
"The Bulgarian citizens will give this government a vote of no confidence. I am sure that if Borisov acts distracted and does not demand a convergence report and does not continue the direction of integrating Bulgaria into the eurozone, people will take to the streets. They will give him a vote of no confidence. And this will be another of his governments that will be brought down in a shameful manner," the PP-DB MP also said.
