Prof. Malinov: PP-DB should support the government until our country joins the eurozone - 1

PP-DB should support the government until our country joins the eurozone, thus not losing voters and prestige. If the convergence report turns out to be negative, Boyko Borisov himself should call on the government to resign. This was said by political scientist and former MEP Prof. Svetoslav Malinov in “Hello, Bulgaria” on Nova TV.

He pointed out that Rosen Zhelyazkov should turn to specific political parties for key votes - for example, to request support for the budget from the PP-DB.

Malinov said that “the responsibility of the PP-DB is clearly outlined, and GERB-SDF should stop behaving as if they have a larger majority than they actually do, and seek support by listening to criticism”.

“It is not true that in the current situation the government will depend on Peevski, although he would very much like it to be so”, the political scientist also believes.

He expressed the opinion that the cabinet does not have a long horizon.

Political analyst Kristian Škvarek believes that for Bulgaria to enter the eurozone, the National Assembly must adopt many decisions with more than 121 members, therefore some another political formation to support the government. He is of the opinion that with the entry of “Veličie” the opposition that is against the euro has increased. And he added that before it included “Vazrazhdane” and MECH, and now “Veličie”. “The two camps are beginning to divide in the following way - the government and “DPS - New Beginning” are those who want entry into the eurozone and the opposition that does not want the euro, whose leader is Kostadin Kostadinov. In the middle are those from PP-DB, who are both for the eurozone and with the opposition that is against it”, said Shkvarek.

He pointed out: “The majority would not have depended on Delyan Peevski if they had not rejected Rosen Zhelyazkov from PP-DB. They were angry, they gave themselves more weight in the negotiating positions, they thought they could have another prime minister, they rejected Zhelyazkov. This is the reason they did not enter this cabinet and that is why once again the democratic community will stand on the sidelines and watch as someone else implements its strategic project for Europe.”
