When we hastily adopt the most important laws, in the middle of the night, when half of us are asleep and the others are dozing, this is not good news. This was said in an interview with "Focus" by financial expert Mika Zaikova.
"We are adopting the 2025 Budget late, but neither the government nor the deputies are to blame for this, it's just that this election marathon that the country has gone through in the last three years has caused a lot of trouble and damage. It also brought a budget that no one likes, but it is the possible one. It is a consequence of the two budgets that Asen Vassilev drafted and which were very far from the truth. So Mr. Vassilev has nothing to be angry about, he should be angry only with himself, because these two previous budgets caused a lot of trouble. Temenuzhka Petkova's budget plan is a continuation, willy-nilly, of some of the things that Asen Vassilev was doing. Still, the budget is necessary because the country cannot work with 1/12 of the revenues every year," she commented.
According to her, however, at the midnight session for the adoption of Budget 2025, "some worrying things" were voted on.
"One of these things is Delyan Peevski's proposal for post office shops with a certain surcharge of 10%. What does it matter what the markup is when the price depends on what is underneath it, that is, on the agreed price of goods and services, the agreed price with the retailer, if we put cartel agreements, corruption and the need to pay this and that in the middle, the price will grow", believes Mika Zaikova.
"There must be reforms in the management program. We do not receive money from the Recovery and Resilience Plan, because we really do not make reforms. This parliament has been in existence for five months. Have they adopted one law out of these three, for example, on private bankruptcy, on corruption? No, nothing! They sit all day and show how ill-mannered they are. Reforms require time, but time is running out for us, because in 2026 the mandala will fall and we will lose ready money. We will lose them not because Rosen Zhelyazkov or Temenuzhka Petkova are to blame, but because all this political instability is also reflected in the fact that they do not accept us into the eurozone", the financial expert also commented.
When asked what times the country's government expects, Mika Zaikova replied: "It will not be easy for them, but it will be worse if we head towards elections again. The bigotry of the PP-DB is obvious. With their budgets, they brought us to this state. And now they are angry. Who are they angry at? At themselves? Because the budget is a forecast, but when it is very far from the truth, then it is harmful. And what Asen Vassilev was doing - both his budgets were very far from the truth and brought us to this state".
