The mother of the brutally murdered Irina Dimitrova from Tryavna was forced to take out a loan to organize her daughter's funeral. The victim's three young children are temporarily staying with their grandmother while the investigation into the brutal crime continues.
The brutal murder was committed on March 21 in the afternoon by Irina's ex-husband in front of horrified neighbors. The 23-year-old perpetrator attempted suicide by stabbing himself. He is currently in hospital in critical condition. The prosecutor's office confirmed that they will request a permanent arrest for the attacker once his health condition stabilizes.
The social directorate in the municipality of Tryavna refused to comment on the case, and the directorate "Child Protection" has not yet made a decision regarding the future of the three young children.
The mother of the murdered woman, Diana Dimitrova, told Bulgaria ON AIR: "The police were not doing their job, I called to send him to his mother and father, that his nerves were not well – to take him somewhere to be treated... And strangers are helping with whatever they can - diapers, until I get back on my feet... I took on the responsibility for the funeral myself, I am not relaxing."
