The Minister of Tourism Miroslav Borshosh met with the Regional Governor of Vidin Ani Harutyunyan to discuss the strategic opportunities for the development of tourism in the Danube region and the concrete steps to transform it into a preferred destination for domestic and international tourism.
“Vidin has all the prerequisites - rich history, cultural heritage, unique nature and strategic location - to become one of the leading tourist regions in Bulgaria. The Ministry of Tourism will be an active partner in the efforts for the sustainable development of the region,“ emphasized Minister Miroslav Borshosh.
During the meeting, the Regional Governor presented the main advantages of the region, including the proximity to the Danube River, the border with Romania and Serbia, the natural landmarks and cultural and historical monuments. The possibilities for the development of rural, river, balneo, cultural, festival and congress tourism were discussed, as well as a project idea for the construction of a ski slope in the Chuprene region.
Among the issues raised by the regional government were the challenges related to infrastructure, the lack of qualified personnel and the need for better logistics to key tourist sites. The need to improve access to the port building in Vidin, which is currently partially closed, was also discussed, as well as the possibility of deploying pontoon piers.
Minister Miroslav Borshosh confirmed the Ministry's commitment to supporting initiatives and projects that contribute to the tourism and economic development of the region.
