They have been searching for gas in the Black Sea for 20 years, but there, unlike other places, there are no deposits. This was said in the studio of "Brussels 1" Yavor Kuyumdzhiev - former Deputy Minister of Economy and Energy on the occasion of the signed agreement for oil and gas exploration in the Black Sea.
"Gas is usually found near oil. "It is very rare to find isolated gas fields, because in fact natural gas and oil are the same molecule in different aggregate states," the former deputy minister commented to Bulgaria ON AIR.
On the issue of the Belene NPP, Kuyumdzhiev said: "It is very funny - we are the only country in the world that sells reactors without being able to produce them."
The decision not to sell the Belene NPP equipment to Ukraine is a happy coincidence for the BSP, the specialist also said.
"If the Ukrainians had continued to insist on buying it, they would have found another 100 million dollars on top, they would have given them. But what happened there was that the Americans stopped giving them money. This may have led to a reconsideration of the situation... And that's why, in my opinion, GERB and the others agreed so easily. Simply because there is no longer any interest," concluded Kuyumdzhiev.
