According to Art. 18. (1) (Amend. – SG, issue 12 of 2010, supplement – SG, issue 109 of 2020, effective 22.12.2020) of the Radio and Television Act, Pomorie Municipality exercises its right of reply in connection with a publication on the website of the Bulgarian National Radio, published with author Daniela Kostadinova.

The publication claims that “the beach strip of Pomorie is flooded with oil stains that continue to surface“, and details are also given about “the extent of the disaster“. It was also stated that “the mayor of Pomorie knows about the pollution, but no action has been taken“.

The Municipality of Pomorie categorically states that what was written in the article is not true. At 11.15 am yesterday /03.05.2025/ a signal was received from the Kosata beach on telephone 112. The signal was directed to a Public Order team, which established the presence of small oil balls thrown out of the sea and melted by the sun (attached photos below). No spill, pollution or disaster was established. The signal, as well as the information from the inspection, were also submitted to the Regional Inspectorate for Environment, Water and Water-Burgas.

“It is shameful and very unfortunate that national media publish such information on the eve of the summer season. For years we have been talking about advertising the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, for years we have been talking about emphasizing the good news at the expense of the bad. Today we saw the opposite again - on the one hand, an attempt is being made to undermine our authority as a tourist destination, and on the other hand, this is done with false information, which in turn undermines the authority of the relevant media," commented Mayor Ivan Aleksiev.
