Terziev: It's not stubbornness - I don't see how I can give what the protesters want - 1

„I don't see how I can give what the protesters want. It's not a matter of stubbornness. We've invited the unions to a meeting on Monday. I told them to send me their bills so we can see if we have a reason to talk today”. This was stated in the studio of „Hello, Bulgaria” by Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev. On the air of NOVA, representatives of the union organizations specified that they are trying to organize a meeting with the local authorities as early as Friday.

„These 180 leva, which seem very small to everyone, mean a 55 million hole in the transport system”, the mayor pointed out. In his words, if the requested increase of 300 leva is granted. of public transport employees, this would mean that half of the planned new kindergartens in Sofia would not be built. “Money cannot be taken from the capital program, because a large part of the funds there are loans that are specified for what they are exactly for”, added Terziev. He said that there is no benefit for Sofia residents not to have public transport, but stressed that “when there is no money – there is no money”.

Friday is the third day in which the capital has woken up without surface public transport. The unions are collecting signatures to have the metro stop working as well.
