Nadezhda Neynski: The division on the euro issue should not happen - 1

Romania is electing a president after unprecedented elections, in Turkey we saw strange negotiations to stop the war with Ukraine, and the euro issue in Bulgaria continues to roll around, especially after “Vazrazhdane“ filled Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture with supporters of the leva. Meanwhile, the president asked the Constitutional Court to express its opinion on the issue of the referendum on the euro.

The former foreign minister, who signed Bulgaria's treaty with the European Union, Nadezhda Neynski, commented on world issues in an interview with “In Focus“.

Romania and the elections

“Although it is too early to make predictions about the elections, what is impressive is the unprecedentedly high voter turnout. It gives hope that people have become more active, because here it is not a choice between two names, but between two paths for the country“, said Neynski and added that the best cure for nationalism is high voter turnout.

According to her, the elections in Romania are very dramatic because of the laws that operate in the country.

“What we see happening there is very serious. It is no coincidence that the whole world is following the processes“, she pointed out.

Bulgaria and the Euro

„The division on the topic of the euro should not happen. The fact that they are afraid is something completely understandable. With every major change, people have fears. When they flare up and the institutions in our country speak in different voices and when such an authoritative position, like the president, takes advantage of this fear to pour into the mill – fears multiply“, commented Neynski.

According to her, society fears most of all whether the state is able to control possible speculation.

„Currently, the commitment of political pro-European leaders should be very categorical. We will not be surprised if they are not at the level of expectations, these fears will increase“, announced the former foreign minister.
