May 24 is our Bulgarian, unique, true holiday. A holiday, which other nations do not have. Because the work of the holy brothers and their students is our unique contribution to European and world civilization, says the Minister of Education and Science Krasimir Valchev in his greeting for May 24 to teachers, scientists and university lecturers, to artists, pupils and students, which was sent by the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES).
"Happy May 24 - Day of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius, of the Bulgarian alphabet, education and culture and of Slavic literature! A day in which we honor and thank. We thank our teachers, lecturers, artists, scientists, writers, museum, community center and library workers. The people we should believe in. And the people we should invest in as a society," the minister said.
"Today we honor our spiritual leaders - those who create meaning, culture and direction. Who have built our past. And those who lay the foundations of the future," said Minister Krasimir Valchev.
He noted that May 24 is the day Bulgaria truly celebrates. A day when Bulgarian cities and villages shine with the most children's smiles. A day when our children - both in the Motherland and around the world - sing "Go, Reborn People" and are proud of the language, the homeland, the letters.
"May 24 is more than a date. This is the day when the strength of the Bulgarian spirit is felt. A day of language, culture, spirituality - what connects us, wherever we are in the world. And it is precisely on this day that we believe most strongly in the future - in the bright futures of our children. But, in order to achieve them, we must affirm education and culture as national and budgetary priorities. Because education is our most direct - and only - path to a prosperous and harmonious society. And spirituality and culture are the path to overcoming the consumerist model of life that overwhelms us, and to educating values and ideals. Few nations have the privilege of celebrating a holiday like May 24. We have it. Therefore - be proud, be awake, be Bulgarians! Happy holiday! ", wishes Minister Krasimir Valchev in his greeting.
