There is no danger that Delyan Peevski will “take over” Boyko Borisov. Former Energy Minister Miroslav Sevlievski and political analyst Slavi Vassilev united around this opinion in “Face to Face.”
„The big question before Peevski’s DPS is whether it can become a second political force. I think that with Chakarov and without Chakarov it could not happen. PP, groups around PP or Rumen Radev’s project rather have a chance of being a second political force in the next parliamentary elections“, Sevlievski believes.
„There is even a greater danger for Peevski that the incident with Chakarov may turn out to be a Pyrrhic victory. And there are already such accusations to him that he uses the prosecutor's office, and this is something that hit Borisov the most 4-5 years ago“, he also said.
“The fact that Peevski can “take over“ Borisov is common talk, conspiracies are developing. GERB is no longer only Borisov's, a few years ago he learned his lesson and brought out new faces. This is not that Borisov and that GERB - this GERB cannot be taken over by one person. I think this is being exaggerated“, Miroslav Sevliev believes.
Slavi Vassilev also agreed with him.
“Peevski controls “New Beginning“, he will increasingly control the MRF. Borisov controls GERB. Their interaction and synchronization cannot be ignored in the public space, because they support this power“, the political analyst pointed out.
„Society is looking for a politician to replace Borisov and GERB. We have been moving in this direction for 4-5 years. 70% of Bulgarian voters do not want GERB to govern“, he added.
According to Vassilev, the conversation between Delyan Peevski and Dzhevdet Chakarov was motivating enough for Chakarov to do something that all his party members qualify as betrayal.
„To be accused of betrayal is something relatively painful for anyone who has spent a lot of time with these people. The battle seems to be a foregone conclusion, but these are internal party problems of the MRF, we can only assume“, the political analyst also commented.
According to him, the effect is unpleasant for Dogan's MRF and favorable for Peevski, because he shows strength and the ability to influence.
Rumen Radev's Euro Referendum
„What Rumen Radev did with the referendum was an additional step to affirm his authority“, is the opinion of Slavi Vassilev.
People underestimate what has happened since the president proposed the referendum. At least two things have happened. There was talk about the effects that could occur after the introduction of the euro. There was talk about inflation. The president talked about measures that should be introduced by the government not after we adopt the euro, but before that“, he commented.
According to Sevlievski, however, Radev has achieved nothing with this referendum and scaring voters is not politics, but partisanship.
