Bar associations have announced that from June 1 they will stop appointing official and reserve defenders, duty lawyers and special representatives. The strike was officially announced in Sofia and almost all the associations in the country are expected to join it, reports Nova TV.
The reasons - the lack of reform in legal aid and the low level of payment for legal work. The Supreme Bar Council supported the protest. In response, the Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev submitted for coordination a draft of changes to the Regulation on the Payment of Legal Aid, which envisages an increase in fees from next year.
