"The National Coordination Center for Road Safety must start working effectively, in the last 4 years it has become the second traffic police - only the "Traffic Police" is working. Daniel Mitov: Drivers caught with alcohol over 1.2 per mille in their blood should have their licenses revoked for life - 1

We need to think much more actively about legislative measures that will remove dangerous drivers from the road. My idea is that drivers caught with alcohol over 1.2 per mille in their blood, which falls under the category of crimes, should have their licenses revoked for life. It is certain that larger fines will be introduced. This was stated by Interior Minister Daniel Mitov after the national meeting of the Ministry of Interior on road control, Nova TV reports.
"With the Minister of Electronic Governance, we will think about how drivers can quickly receive electronic notifications of violations committed and imposed sanctions. We need to decide how irresponsible drivers who drink and drive will not be put back on the road once they are caught. A driving license is a privilege, not a right. And those whose profession is related to driving must be very careful. The collection of road fines, as well as the efficiency of their delivery, must be improved," commented Mitov.

Today, the Ministry of Interior met at a national meeting with the participation of all regional directorates. The meeting will identify measures to improve road control and the effectiveness of inspections.

"The National Coordination Center for Road Safety must start working effectively, in the last 4 years it has become the second traffic police - only the "Traffic Police" is working. It is an example of the decay and sclerosis of all institutions. We must have sorted it out within 10 days. Political instability did not set a direction for the administration and it began to act by inertia," the minister said. He added that the gendarmerie and "Border Police" will help the Traffic Police in the fight for road safety.

We recall that on Wednesday, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov gave one month to the "Traffic Police", the Toll Management and the State Road Safety Agency to improve road control or they will be restructured.
