"Save Sofia" is submitting a proposal to introduce a reorganization of parking and parking in the capital to the Sofia Municipal Council. Their ideas include both the central and peripheral areas. This was announced by the municipal councilor and leader of "Save Sofia" Boris Bonev on Nova TV.
„The proposal for a parking reform is the biggest reform in the field in 15 years. It has long been urgent, because the problem of finding parking spaces in Sofia is no longer a problem, but a crisis. If we do not take measures to reduce the pressure and make it easier for those living in the center, the mess will simply continue“, he said.
Boris Bonev specified that the proposal is to introduce a red zone in the central parts of Sofia, where it is currently a blue zone.
“The price for parking will be 5 leva per hour. Working hours will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., including Saturday and Sunday. The idea of it being valid until late at night is because it is currently difficult for residents to find a parking space when they come home from work," he explained, adding that in order for parents to be able to safely drop off their children at schools, the zone starts later.
The municipal councilor specified that service subscriptions will also be reduced, in order to have more parking spaces.
„For electric vehicles, the price will be 50% lower. This cannot continue, not because someone is very keen on collecting money from them, but because they are increasing exponentially,“ said Bonev.
