The head of state is running on the track of populism. This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Academician Nikolay Denkov, a member of the PP-DB party, former prime minister.
"The two reports (convergent - by the EC and the ECB – ed.) are a joy for those in power and a concern for the people. Because every Bulgarian knows in his pocket that inflation, officially declared, is 2.7%, but every Bulgarian knows that in reality it is much more. And you see that the reports themselves do not spare remarks and insure themselves against all possible risks. They are clearly listed in the reports themselves", said today - 07.06, President Rumen Radev.
In these reports there is an admission that Bulgaria's economy is stable, noted Academician Denkov.
"The President should first tell the good news. He should help to understand what will happen until the start of the euro, and not propose something that is against the Constitution. It is obvious that his only goal is to scare people.
What we see all the time is a contradictory behavior of the President and Vice President. On the one hand, they say: "We have never challenged the euro", on the other hand, when Bulgaria is ready for the euro, instead of helping this process, they try to stop it".
However, Denkov is categorical that "We Continue the Change" cannot be placed in the group of those who are trying to stop the process of our accession to the single European currency, even though they announced their intention to request a vote of no confidence in the government.
"Today we would not be discussing these reports if we had not worked extremely hard over the past four years to reach this stage".
We will request a vote of no confidence when the process becomes irreversible, he stressed.
"It is logical that those in power should care more about stability. They do everything possible to push through the things that are important to them, both collectively and personally.
On July 12, we have a National Council and then we will decide when the exact date will be on which we will request a vote of no confidence. We will negotiate first with "Democratic Bulgaria". We will not split because of when the date will be. Our goal is common".
When it comes to fighting corruption, we will seek support from everyone, explained Academician Denkov.
"When they block the hearings, which are important for informing the public, then we have no other option but to request a vote of no confidence, which cannot be stopped.
The moment a date is set for entering the eurozone, legal deadlines begin to run. This is the false dilemma that Borisov is trying to project on us - that in order to preserve the euro, we must wait until the end of next year and turn a blind eye to corruption. It will not work!"
We have at least five topics that can serve as a request for a vote of no confidence, indicated Academician Denkov.
This vote should make the government change its policy. At the moment, they feel strong with the majority of "New Beginning" and they want to do what is profitable for them. The only thing that can stop them is a combination of political pressure from the opposition and public pressure on topics that are important to the people.
Denkov also analyzed the possibility that GERB wants to show the PP-DB that they are a more desirable partner in government than Peevski.
"There is nothing we can do at the table where Peevski and Borisov decide what will happen. I wonder what the BSP and ITN are doing there.".
He commented on the search for a common candidacy for president of the center-right formations.
"We will seek a broad unification, but it cannot be with Borisov and Peevski. We will also seek an approach to people who are currently lying to them about what will happen to the euro. We will also seek broad support from those who are disappointed with Peevski and Borisov.
We will stand with the DB, including the DSB. The whole intrigue that we do not agree and will not participate in this process was absolutely false.
We must seek all the people who are for the European development of Bulgaria and are against corruption. I do not close the spectrum to the left, as long as it does not lead us in the wrong direction.
