BTA recalls that on March 6, the Central Election Commission adopted a decision to propose to President Rumen Radev to schedule partial elections for mayor of the "Slatina" and "Iskar" districts. By a presidential decree, published in the "State Gazette", June 15, 2025 is set as the date for partial elections for mayor of the "Slatina" and "Iskar" districts.

The powers of Georgi Iliev as mayor of "Slatina" were terminated early by the Municipal Election Commission due to the mayor's participation in commercial activities. At the end of February, the Sofia Municipal Council elected Denisir Kotev as acting mayor of the "Slatina" district.

Established ownership of company shares was the reason for the termination of the powers of the mayor of the "Iskar" district, Yasen Rusev. At the end of 2024 The Sofia Municipal Council elected, by secret ballot, Alexander Ivanov as interim mayor of the “Iskar“ district.
