Airlines are canceling flights to and from Israel today amid the escalation of tension in the Middle East after Israel's strikes against Iran.

Flights to and from Bulgarian airports in Sofia, Varna and Burgas have also been canceled, BTA reported.

Israeli airline El Al has canceled all of its scheduled flights to and from Israel for today and tomorrow due to security concerns and possible Iranian counterattacks, DPA reported.

The airline, which is known for operating its routes even during conflicts, urged passengers to plan overnight stays abroad until the security situation improves.

El Al announced that it would allow passengers with tickets for departures up to 28 June to cancel them and transform them into travel vouchers. New bookings for flights scheduled until June 22 have been suspended until the situation is clarified.

Planes already traveling to Israel have been diverted to alternative airports, and all scheduled departures have been canceled until further notice.

Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv also reported on its website that it had suspended all departing and landing flights until further notice.

Abu Dhabi Airport, UAE, warned of expected disruptions, urging passengers to contact airlines, Reuters reported. Etihad Airways reported two canceled flights between Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv and delayed departures of four others.

Emirates announced canceled flights to and from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Iran.
