Another BDZ drama: Bulgarians and foreigners were blocked for hours in a carriage at the Ruse railway station - 1

Bulgarians and foreigners were blocked for two hours in a carriage at the Ruse railway station, reports bTV, quoted by news.bg.

Among the injured are a 10-year-old child and a sick elderly man.

The people were traveling from Bucharest to Sofia on the international train, and their carriage was uncoupled at the city's Central Railway Station. However, they could not get out because there was an accident and the carriage remained locked. Thus, the passengers were forced to stand inside in the heat without information about what was happening.

After two hours, when the carriage was unlocked by an emergency team, it became clear that it was actually attached to the Ruse - Varna train.

The option for passengers who could not continue to Sofia was to travel to Varna and from there take a train to the capital to arrive in the morning.

This created tension, since the sick man did not have enough doses of insulin for such a long time. The foreigners - Americans and a Chinese woman - also had to be in Sofia by midnight due to transfers and travel.

After checking the tickets, it turned out that the passengers had actually mistaken the carriage in Bucharest and boarded the carriage for Varna, not Sofia. They were checked on Romanian territory, but no one there noticed that their tickets were not for that carriage number.

BDZ employees began looking for options so that people could travel to their final destinations, with the most worrying being the situation with the sick passenger. Foreigners were forced to take taxis to travel to Sofia.

Meanwhile, additional fast trains from Sofia to Varna and Burgas and back began operating today, news.bg reported.

They have three air-conditioned German saloon-type carriages and a bistro carriage to provide additional comfort for passengers. The seasonal trains will run daily until September 15, and their optimized schedule ensures the fastest possible travel by train between the capital and the two seaside towns.

Traveling on the new trains for the summer season requires a reserved seat. For visitors to the bistro, which offers food and refreshments, free internet access is also provided, BDZ reports.
