Lyubomir Stefanov: President Radev does not provide an alternative to adopting the euro. He simply instills fear in society - 1

President Rumen Radev's behavior recently is inappropriate. It is he who is not fulfilling his main constitutional obligation - to be a unifier of the nation. He is more of a divider. This was commented on by political scientist Lyubomir Stefanov to Novini.bg.

"He does not provide an alternative to adopting the euro. He simply instills fear in society. For example, he did not convene the Council of National Socialists to discuss with the institutions how to fight inflation and control speculation, for example,", he added.

According to the political scientist, when announcing his political project, Rumen Radev will try to steal from the already active electorate of the other parties. "If there was additional energy floating and unchanneled, it would have gathered around him by now, and there is none", Stefanov noted.

Otherwise, the political scientist is of the opinion that in reality, Bulgarians are not at all divided on the topic of the euro. "We as a society have long resolved our problems along these lines. We allow ourselves to experiment with shopping in neighboring countries, where converting our currency into theirs is much more complicated, he gave as an example. "The harm of some public figures is that they do not allow Bulgarians to calmly inform themselves and convince themselves that we have made the right choice. It is full of people with a short political horizon who take advantage of these fears and resonate with them, sending at times scandalous and frankly ridiculous messages", added Lyubomir Stefanov.

"There is potential for the democratic community to be able to send a unified candidacy for the presidential elections next year. Bulgaria needs to confirm the direction we took more than 20 years ago. The question is whether this community will be able to send a message with which to find a candidate, and not the opposite - to have a candidate to package. As many people as you want. He needs a familiar face. It seems inappropriate to me to talk about names, as we will put a stone around this person's neck. First we need to think about the campaign messages," he also commented.
