Yesterday Dimitar Shalafov - municipal councilor and co-chairman of the PP-DB group in the SOS, Ivaylo Kukurin - mayor of the "Mladost" district, Georgi Todorov - mayor of the "Lyulin" district and Dragomir Ivanov - municipal councilor from the PP-DB group in the SOS announced that they were leaving "We Continue the Change".
On "Facebook" Emil Branchevski, mayor of Ilinden, who left months ago, commented on the decision:
"The truth has come out! The mayor of the "Lyulin" district publicly confirmed what I have been saying for months - that "We Continue the Change" are behind the artificially created problem with the accommodation of people from "Zaharna Fabrika". The pressure around "Zaharna Fabrika" was rude, systematic and unacceptable.
I myself was subjected to direct pressure from a political leader of the party. I was the first mayor who openly opposed this model of dependence and backstage. I chose the difficult path - the path of independence, transparency and working solely in the interests of the citizens.
Today I see that I am not alone. After the mayor of "Vitosha" and the mayors of "Lyulin" and "Mladost" also chose to serve the people, not party interests. I congratulate them!
Their election proves that integrity is contagious. And that there are still mayors who believe that their place is not in the party shadow, but among the people. Politics is not an auction. Public procurement is not a party coffer. Mayors are not subordinates – they are elected to serve."
