The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (MLSP) is opening a procedure for financing municipal projects for the purchase of 250 electric light commercial vehicles that will serve social services. This was announced by Minister Borislav Gutsanov to deputies from the parliamentary Committee on Demographic Policy, Children and Family.

“The funds will be allocated directly to the municipalities. The maximum funding that can be allocated to each municipality is up to 113,600 leva for the purchase of 1 electric vehicle and 1 charging station“, explained Minister Gutsanov. The financing of the procedure is in implementation of Chapter “RePowrEU“ of the National Recovery and Sustainability Plan. It will also finance the construction of photovoltaic capacities in social services. Its total budget is almost 78 million. lv.

In front of the deputies, Minister Gutsanov also commented on the ongoing inspections of social services. “509 inspections have been carried out since the beginning of the year by the Agency for the Quality of Social Services. I would like to submit legislative initiatives with the Minister of Justice within the next week or the week after to amend the Penal Code, with which we can stop the unregulated provision of social services. It is not normal to have a 7,000 leva fine when someone messes with the elderly. There should be other measures that we should move towards“, emphasized Minister Gutsanov.

He also drew attention to the problem of the lack of personnel. “We will fix the material base with joint efforts. But where will the personnel come from to look after the elderly? We need to make these specialties at universities more attractive, and not have people go to work abroad when they see the salaries. "We need very good planning, and not to produce graduates who do not know whether they will work when they graduate from university," said Minister Borislav Gutsanov.
