Another protest against the adoption of the euro is being organized today by the "Vazrazhdane" party, a day after it submitted a motion for a vote of no confidence in the government to parliament. The criticism is against its fiscal policy and the decision to enter the eurozone, reports the Bulgarian National Radio.
The cabinet, supported by the current ruling coalition, is deepening fiscal imbalances and is not taking the necessary urgent measures to restore the sustainability of public finances, the party claims.
Following the categorical support from the European Council for Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone on January 1, President Rumen Radev made a comment in which he described it as "a mockery of the people" the claims of the government that they will not allow price increases when the euro is introduced.
The final step in the approval of joining the eurozone is the vote in the plenary hall of the European Parliament, scheduled for July 8 in Strasbourg. The requirement is support by a qualified majority.
