Budget revenues increase by 3.2 billion leva or 11.5% compared to the same period last year, said the Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova at the beginning of today's meeting of the Council of Ministers.
The revenues we have collected from January 1 to May 31, 2025 are over 31.5 billion leva. This is 34.9% of the annual estimates we have foreseen. Revenues increase by 3.2 billion leva or 11.5% compared to the same period last year, said Petkova.
We all know that when our government took over the country, Bulgaria did not have an adopted law on the state budget, we worked under the conditions of a law on collecting revenues and making expenditures, until the law was adopted, i.e. we could make expenditures up to the amount of revenues we receive. We very quickly analyzed the state of public finances. We had to propose a draft budget law that complies with the Public Finance Law, and on the other hand we had to propose measures that would allow us to overcome the popular phrase "the hole in the budget", which the one who is now very worried about the revenues from the two revenue administrations - the National Revenue Agency and Customs - has bequeathed to us, the Minister of Finance pointed out.
