„Another vote of no confidence in the government has passed. Unsuccessful, unfortunately. Unfortunately not for us as a political force - the largest opposition party, but for the Bulgarian people. Because this government did everything possible to falsify the data in order to get us into the eurozone.“
With these words, the MP from „Vazrazhdane“ Tsoncho Ganev began the briefing to journalists, after the vote on the last vote of no confidence, which did not gather enough support to lead to the overthrow of the cabinet.
According to him, the government is systematically misleading the public about the economic realities in the country in order to present Bulgaria as prepared to adopt the euro. „The consequences are yet to become even more tragic. The truth is that our country is not ready either economically or institutionally, and this is being concealed through falsified data and controlled information.“, added Ganev.
He also criticized formations that declare themselves opposition, but in practice do not support initiatives to actually overthrow the government. “People and parties that declare themselves opposition did not vote. We have a slight crack in the State Duma. The explanations that only one person will vote, and that as chairman, do not pass before the people. Words say one thing, but actions in the plenary hall show another.“
Tsoncho Ganev emphasized that the political situation is changing and the roles in it are no longer what they seem from the outside: “The PP is already squeezed by those with whom it governed until recently. No matter how much they pounce on Borisov and Peevski, they will not forgive them - they will destroy them. This vote showed it - in reality they are already becoming isolated allies without influence.“
The people's representative confirmed that “Vazrazhdane“ will continue to work for a new vote of no confidence and for real change: “From now on, as before, we continue as an opposition, that is why we were sent to parliament, to be not only a corrective to this majority, which is Borisov, Peevski, ITN and BSP, but also to work in every way for its overthrow. The sooner, the better for the state.“
He was categorical that the eurozone is not inevitable, as is being suggested to the public:
“If Vazrazhdane governs, we will do everything possible to prevent Bulgaria from actually entering the eurozone. Nothing is over. There is time, there are mechanisms, there is political will - we will use all possible means.“
On the occasion of the country's increased credit rating, Tsoncho Ganev recalled the scandal with CorpBank: “The credit ratings were given in the same way for CorpBank. Do you remember what happened? A few days later, the bank was bankrupted by the circle around Peevski. Today, ratings are given according to interests, and tomorrow they collapse - with hyperinflation, with a budget deficit... Nothing is stable when the economic and political environment is manipulated.“
The topic and parameters of the next vote of no confidence are expected to be specified within the framework of consultations between the opposition forces. “The question is not whether there will be a new vote, there will be one - the question is when and with whom. And this time we will not allow responsibility to be diluted.“
Tsoncho Ganev concluded with a message to the ruling party: “Justice will come … and when it comes, it will be too late for apologies.“
