The terminal in Alexandroupolis has not been operating since last year. This year, through the contract with "BOTAS" significant amounts of gas are being imported. At the same time, the most brazen lies continue to be told that the contract is not being used, but only fees are being paid. Who do these lies serve? This was stated by the head of state Rumen Radev to journalists.
I see the desire of the investigative bodies to conduct a full inspection of the contract and I welcome it. But let them include another important element - an inspection for lost profits. Why is the contract still not being used? Why don't we sell to other countries through it? Why do we continue to import Russian gas? A favorite pastime of several governments that want to wage war with Putin, but import Russian gas through intermediaries. I expect an answer to this question, the president added.
"Let everything be clear and all these accusations receive an adequate, competent answer. As I see it, everyone in Bulgaria understands football and gas deals," Radev also said.
I hear rumors of corruption related to "Botaş" pouring out, even from the highest level - the parliamentary rostrum. I hope that the people who say these things realize that they are groundlessly accusing the Turkish side of corruption as well. Because "Botaş" is a state-owned company and this cannot but affect our relations, President Radev also pointed out.
The Turkish side, seeing all the hysteria, is concerned about the image of its state-owned company. They are ready to provide even better conditions. But there must be political will on our part, Rumen Radev further explained.
