The exchange of levs for euros will not take place in all branches of “Bulgarian Posts“, but only in those settlements where there are no banks. That is, we are talking about exactly 2,230 post offices in the country. This was stated in an interview with NOVA NEWS by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Dimitar Nedyalkov.

He recalled that post offices will be able to exchange up to 1,000 leva per day.

For amounts over 1,000 leva, citizens will have to submit applications to the branch and within three to five working days they will be able to exchange their money, Nedyalkov explained.

The Deputy Minister assured that a procedure is underway to purchase special equipment such as ultraviolet lamps for post offices, with which to check the authenticity of leva banknotes when people go to exchange them for euros.

Dimitar Nedyalkov admitted that the financial condition of “Bulgarian Posts“ It is not flourishing, but the state is doing everything possible to modernize them.

The post office has over 2,000 properties. The company itself has been underfunded for many years and is in a difficult financial situation, but despite this, they manage to stay on the market. The priority for the moment is the people in the post offices. Procedures are underway to provide official clothing. Let me remind you that this year the salaries of employees were increased by 11%, so the care is for the people, so that they are dressed and kept in good shape. We try to carry out urgent repairs, since we cannot do general repairs, we only do the most urgent ones. "Air conditioners are also being installed in certain post offices," Nedyalkov said.

When asked about the location of grocery stores in post offices, Deputy Minister Nedyalkov said that such an idea had not been discussed in the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Towards the end of the interview, he expressed hope that after 2028, the active construction of a third bridge over the Danube would begin and that it would be a fact by around 2030.
