"Gallup": GERB-SDF remains the leading political force - 1

The current sociological data from July confirm the stable support for the government coalition and a certain regression among some of the opposition formations, the analysis of "Gallup" shows.

GERB-SDF remains the leading political force with support of 25.7%, maintaining a significant lead over the other parties. The active work of the government, especially the successes in saving the funds under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan and Bulgaria's inclusion in the eurozone, strengthen the confidence of voters and consolidate the electoral base of GERB-SDF. The opposition's attempts to erode this support have so far yielded no results.

The remaining two formations in the government coalition also demonstrate stability – BSP receives 7.9%, and "There is such a people" (ITN) – 5.3%. This stability can be explained by their participation in the government and their moderate political line.

DPS – New Beginning occupies the second position - 17.6%. This level of support is comparable to the result of the elections a year ago, in June 2024 (17.06%), immediately before the internal party conflict. Combined with the de facto collapse of the APS (now with only 1.4% support), this result is an indication that the traditional electorate of the formation is consolidating around the legitimate political entity - DPS-New Beginning. Given the characteristic high mobilization of this electoral group in an electoral situation, the hypothesis is that support for DPS-New Beginning may increase in a real electoral situation.

„Vazrazhdane“ takes third place with 13.2%, marking a stabilization after a previous decline. The exhaustion of the topic “for“ or “against“ the introduction of the euro puts the party in search of new current causes through which to maintain electoral dynamics. The competition from MECH (6.1%) and “Velicie“ (4.1%) in this electoral segment is becoming increasingly tangible.

PP-DB registers 12.6% support. The corruption scandals in Sofia and Varna, as well as the political turmoil, are already having a negative impact on the trust in the formation. The loss of the main identification line - the fight against corruption - poses a serious strategic problem for the coalition. It remains to be seen whether a permanent loss of electoral periphery will follow or stabilization will be achieved.

In July, there was also some dynamics in public trust in those holding high constitutional positions. President Rumen Radev recorded a drop to 38.7% approval. Vice President Iliyana Yotova also lost ground, with her approval rating dropping to 29% with overwhelming disapproval. Approval for Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov increased to 27.4% - a result reflecting the public's assessment of the government's policy as a whole. The Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova enjoys 14.3% approval.

In July, the leaders of the main political formations registered the following approval levels: Boyko Borisov - 22.5%, Kostadin Kostadinov - 17.1%, Delyan Peevski - 1.5%. 16.5%, Radostin Vassilev – 14.8%, Slavi Trifonov – 13.4%, Atanas Zafirov – 8.7%, Ivelin Mihaylov – 8.2%, Asen Vassilev – 7.6%, Atanas Atanasov – 7.4%.
