The Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvi Kirilov, ordered the National Council for Prices and Reimbursement of Medicinal Products to take action to announce the prices of medicinal products in euros.
The National Council regulates the so-called maximum prices of prescription drugs and registers the maximum selling prices of over-the-counter drugs.
According to the Law on the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, the registers should be adapted to the single European currency, as of January 1, 2026. As a result of the extraordinary preparation, the National Council will publish the prices of medicines in euros on its website as early as August 8, 2025.
The goal is to ensure peace of mind and information for Bulgarian citizens in the context of the upcoming introduction of the euro.
For convenience, automatic currency conversion of prices in the Register of Approved Limit Prices of Medicinal Products, the Register of Maximum Selling Prices and Appendix 4 of the Positive Medicine List has been carried out, and prices in leva and euros will also be available through a specially implemented mobile application.
The advance publication of the converted prices of medicinal products in euros will guarantee predictability and stability in the conditions of currency transition.
